About Cahaya AI
A School Built Around Learners, Not Algorithms
We started Cahaya AI because we kept seeing people drop out of online courses — not for lack of effort, but for lack of structure and support.

How Cahaya AI Came Together
Cahaya AI grew out of conversations at a small table in George Town. A handful of practitioners — developers, data scientists, and educators — had each watched capable people give up on AI learning because the path felt scattered. Dozens of tutorials, no clear sequence, and no one to ask when things stopped making sense.
We wanted to build something different: a school shaped like a well-planned district, where each idea occupies its own block and the routes between them are marked. Not a firehose of content, but a measured walk through material that builds on itself.
Since opening, Cahaya AI has helped learners across Malaysia take their first steps into Python and data work, build real machine learning projects, and deploy neural networks with confidence. The cohorts stay small because the quality of feedback matters more to us than the number of seats filled.
Our Mission
What We Are Here to Do
Our purpose is straightforward: help thoughtful people in Malaysia build real capability in AI and machine learning, at a pace that fits around their lives.
Clarity over volume
Each course is scoped carefully so learners are never overwhelmed. One junction at a time.
Support that follows the work
Mentors read your actual code and projects, not a generic submission queue.
Responsible practice from the start
Ethics and responsible deployment are part of the curriculum, not an afterthought added to the final week.
The People
Who Runs the Courses
A small team of practitioners who have worked in AI, software, and education — people who know what the field actually looks like.
Azlan Hamdan
Lead Instructor — ML & AI
Eight years building and deploying machine learning systems in Malaysia and Singapore. Designed the Foundations and ML in Practice tracks.
Siti Rahayu
Deep Learning Specialist
Researcher and practitioner with a focus on neural architectures and responsible deployment. Leads the Deep Learning District track.
Nadia Ibrahim
Curriculum & Learner Support
Former educator and software developer. Structures the course material and coordinates the weekly clinic sessions and peer channels.
Standards
How We Hold Ourselves Accountable
These are the practical commitments we keep to make sure the learning experience is worth your time and money.
Curriculum Review Cycle
Course content is reviewed before each new cohort opens. If tools or techniques have moved on, the material moves with them.
Cohort Size Limits
We cap enrolment on each cohort so that every learner can get a response to their work within two working days — not a week.
Data Privacy
Learner data is handled under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act. We collect only what is needed to run the course and communicate with you.
Learner Feedback Loop
At the end of each cohort, learners complete a structured review. The responses shape what changes in the next intake.
Ethics in the Syllabus
Responsible AI use, bias awareness, and deployment considerations are covered across all three tracks — not saved for a final optional module.
Consistent Availability
Clinic sessions are scheduled at consistent times each week so learners can plan around them. Recordings are posted within 24 hours for those who cannot attend live.
Our Approach
AI Education That Respects How Adults Learn
Most online AI courses are built around content volume — hundreds of video hours, enormous reading lists, and dashboards that show percentage completion rather than actual understanding. Cahaya AI is built around a different assumption: that meaningful progress comes from well-sequenced material, time to practise, and someone who can read your work carefully.
Our three course tracks — Foundations in AI Thinking, Machine Learning in Practice, and Deep Learning District — map a coherent path from first steps to advanced deployment. Each track has its own scope and its own expected time commitment. A learner finishing Foundations has working Python knowledge and a small project. A learner finishing Deep Learning District has built a capstone, received detailed mentor feedback, and has lasting access to the course and an alumni community.
We are based in George Town, Penang, and most of our learners are in Malaysia — though the courses are delivered entirely online and accessible from anywhere. The material is written in English, and the examples and context are drawn from the Malaysian and broader Southeast Asian technology landscape where that adds value.
If you are weighing whether AI and machine learning are worth learning at this point in your career, or which track is the right starting point, we are glad to talk through it. There is no pressure — just a straightforward conversation.
